NetApp is showcasing its latest solutions and services that enable users to seamlessly manage data across different IT platforms, at GITEX Technology Week. Mr. Graham Porter, MENA Channel Sales Manager, NetApp explains that people normally struggle with the question that what exactly can be done with data? A lot of people are looking at cloud, the cloud adoption in the region has been comparatively slow, for NetApp uses hybrid cloud strategy is very important. A lot of people have the perception that storage vendors provide hard disk drives but what we are interested in is data management; a software that enables one to move the data format along with backing it up and compressing it. He said, “We became number two worldwide in Flash last year. The flash is a fraction of a size and we can now get a petabyte of storage in a small rack as small as two pizza boxes. The attractive prices, high performance and it is quicker which makes Flash extremely catchy. We bought a company called SolidFire for $870million dollars in November, which works with telco operators and cloud providers where they have numerous applications and customers running on the same box.” NetApp’s GITEX focus is on flash, cloud, converged infrastructure and software-defined storage and NetApp is excited to connect with new prospects, further developing brand awareness expressed Graham.
