Estonian delegation praises DSG during their high visit to Gitex 2015

Dubai Smart Government Department’s (DSG’s) today a high-level delegation from Estonia headed by Taavi Rõivas, Prime Minister, on the sidelines of the 35th edition of Gitex Technology Week. The delegation visited DSG’s stand to be familiar with DSG’s achievements in the field of transformation into smart government, exchange expertise and discuss means of future co-operation.

The delegation, which was received by H.E. Ahmad Bin Humaidan, DSG Director General, and some DSG senior officials, was briefed on DSG’s strategy to be in the lead in transformation into smart government for the 21st century and the enablers provided by DSG to offer the necessary support for government entities to ease their task in transforming into smart government easily and smoothly.

Accompanied by DSG Director General, the delegation members made an inspection visit to DSG’s 3800 square metre stand, where they were given live demonstration of the latest smart apps, services and channels provided by DSG to make it easy for the general public to access government services easily and smoothly round the clock.

Rõivas and the accompanying delegation were briefed on Dubai Now, a first of its kind unified hub for smart government services, which enables customers to access all services and conduct all transactions, allowing them to benefit from over 50 smart services provided by 22 government entities participating in the hub. They were also briefed on MyID service for single login to Dubai Government’s services and the Customer Experience Lab, which is a significant stage of the development of Dubai Government’s services in line with customers’ needs and personal interests with the aim of easing the lives of individuals, businesses and visitors in Dubai and providing them with satisfaction and happiness when interacting with government entities.

The delegation also viewed some demonstration of the infrastructure provided by DSG to Dubai government entities to help them provide their services to customers in a modern and secure technological environment. This included the Government Information Network, which is the corner stone of Dubai Government’s electronic and smart infrastructure and a unified network connecting 58 points of contact with government entities for sharing government information and transactions with a high level of protection.

Other services explained included the Government Disaster Recovery Site, for 28 local government entities that creates a secure environment for government information security, ensuring continuity of work and contributing to Dubai’s sustainable development. They also included the unified Messaging and Collaboration System at the level of Dubai government entities, which enables work with government entities to be an easy and smooth experience. The system currently connects 36 government entities and hosts 26 sites of government sectors on the Internet.

Rõivas praised the UAE’s distinguished experience in developing smart government, expressing his admiration of the innovative services and the latest smart apps that characterize Dubai, which is taking confident steps go be the smartest city in the world. He also expressed his admiration of the efficiency and extreme smoothness of the smart services and apps.
